Baby Carriers

Baby Carriers are like an artificial womb – A boon to new moms

Being a Physiotherapist, Posture and Pilates trainer, I have always trained mothers for their posture and back pain during and after pregnancy, during breastfeeding and moreover when they have to carry their babies as they grow faster than they could even think.

It’s a tedious task to carry your baby and do the daily chores and for that matter even to go to market or malls, travelling by train or flight, etc. The ultimate troll is on your back, shoulder, neck and even your buttocks. Moreover because of the weak abdominal muscles after delivery the pain in the back worsens.

No matter how much you take care of your posture and ergonomics, the joints pain because of lack of nutrient store and lack of exercises. When I conceived and it was for the first time, my search for a good baby carrier started. As a working Physio to-be-mom, I have always thought of convenience for my posture but here it was the question of my baby’s comfort and development too. I looked for lots of carriers online and offline. To be lucky enough I got an ergonomic baby carrier which was beautiful, suitable to me and my baby. My husband could also use it during our tour. When my baby was 8 months old, I walked through busy airports, markets, jungles, waterfalls and malls with my baby close to my body. To your surprise, he was a happy baby all the time. He could even sleep in the carrier, as it is proven that babies sleep well when they hear heartbeat of their parents.

Usually we have seen some parents come back very unhappy and tired when they have to travel with toddlers. People would never believe that we walked for miles to the temples through hundreds of stairs with our baby in the carrier. Infact you can carry a baby diaper bag also very comfortably with the carrier in front.
A front carrier is always a good option for mom and baby both. Always remember that while you carry the baby in front, her thighs should never be hanging down straight. Baby’s hip joints should be at such an angle that she gets a sitting comfort in the carrying pouch

I have always thought of practically helping new mothers, so this post was about how a baby carrier is an essential requirement in your shopping list once she or he is above 6 months old.
