There are Total 3 stages in women's life when her monthly period totally stops.

  1. First: Menopause
  2. Second: Perimenopause
  3. Third: Postmenopause

Perimenopause:

Perimenopause  is the first stage in this process and can start eight to 10 years before menopause.

Menopause:

A stage when a woman no longer has menstrual periods is Menopause.

A stage after menopause is Postmenopause . At this point, menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, can ease for many women. Due to  a lower level of estrogen,women suffering from postmenopausal are at increased risk for a number of health conditions, such as osteoporosis and heart disease.
